I chose to go into gastroenterology because I enjoy the nutrition aspect and how it improves GI illness. Teaching patients specifically about certain diets and lifestyle changes can make an impact in their lives. I enjoy doing the most patient education based on lifestyle modifications, and I also think that colon cancer screening is very important. So I want to teach patients about the surveillance screenings. I think the most gratifying part is listening to my patients at their most vulnerable times, and knowing that the next time they come into clinic they could be feeling better and that you've improved their quality of life.
